I always get so excited when people ask me for health advice! Recently, I’ve been posting a lot about the vitamins I’ve been taking & getting so many questions on what, how and some advice on getting started.
What a great reason to write a blog, right?
So I originally stumbled upon Care Of through Instagram. Unfortunately, I was trapped by a sponsored post. But before I do anything and submit to product marketing, I get down in some good ol research.
Care Of started in 2016 & was initially called Beets Vitamins. They originally started a beta version of what ‘care of’ would be. So it was a website where friends and family would go to take a quiz to get a personalized pack of vitamins. At this time, you couldn’t buy anything, they just wanted to test whether or not the idea would work. & they found that people were actually interested in picking vitamins themselves, reading research and of course the convenience!
That was enough for them to get started. So now Care Of, is up and rolling with a factory in my hometown, Brooklyn. The best part is there is a team of doctors that work together to ensure safety. The team consists of a bunch of doctors with different clinical backgrounds. The team also has one female naturopathic MD, which is enough for me! At least they are open to holistic medicine as well as offer natural options.
They also include how strong the research is behind a product, you can read specifics on an outcome and how reliable the information is compared to other research. They are also very transparent when it comes to where they got the supplements from, how they pick their supplements and much more. (Check out their website for more information here.)
So the basis of the app is you take a little assessment quiz and pick some health aspects important to you. At the end of the quiz, you are presented with products that fit your lifestyle and diet. The recommendation will come with prices per each vitamin, so you can customize to fit your budget.
Mine is about $23 a month since I prefer herbal supplements, Ray’s is about 34/ month because he doesn’t eat enough during the day, so I doubled up on vitamins important to his eyes and bones. (He’s a programmer & spends hours in front of a computer)
I’ve always tried my best to stay away from vitamins. I eat a bunch of veggies and fruits and truly thought I met my quota. But honestly, as a nurse, these 12 hr shifts are starting to kill me. There’s always junk food around, I’m too tired to plan meals. There’s just a bunch of inconsistency, so I thought this would be the most helpful for me on my work days.
I ended up getting the monthly subscription. & now I’m here telling you about it. I love the convenience and the ability to change whatever I want. It’s still early in the transition, so I will give you guys an update on how I feel in a few months.
There are a bunch of companies that can provide similar services. There is a company that caters to women. If you are interested in trying Care Of, use code ‘LRRTWN’ to get your first month free! If you have any other questions, leave a comment below!
