Hey guys! I previously wrote about reflecting for the new year, and my own list of reflection led to some new goals for 2019! The running theme for 2019 is discipline. When I look back at my college experience, I think about how much discipline I had. I was hustlin, to say the least. I would wake up at 4:50am three times a week to make it to PT by 6! I would work out, shower and head back to Brooklyn for classes that would go from 8-4 and then actually have the energy to pick up the late shift at work! Reflecting this year made me realize that although I’m still putting in work to reach my goals, nothing will bring more results then bringing disciplined Leslie back! Haha
So with that being said, I wanted to really make specific, realistic goals. I started with habits that I know I need to sharpen up like waking up early and maintaining consistency with my workouts. Starting the day with an exercise completely changes my mood and motivates me to get my shit together haha. So I canceled my gym membership since my excuse was the distance from my home and looked into class pass live. Which has helped me so much!
Disclaimer: this is my honest review & no I don’t get paid to say this [ even though I am not opposed too. Class pass hit me up! ] haha
Classpass combined the two things I look for in a workout. 1. Accessibility and 2. variety. With over 100+ workout videos you will not get bored! I enjoy HITT workouts, I rather go all out for 30 minutes and then move on with my day. Classpass has tons of HITT workouts in all categories (lower body, upper body, cardio etc.). It’s pretty easy to sign up too.
When you sign up, they have a couple of packages. If you already have a chrome cast, all you have to pay for is the heart rate, monitor. (Which I will get into later). If you don’t, I think its around 80 bucks for the complete package. Once you receive the package, you set up the chrome cast and download the class pass app. Then, you make your profile and scroll through classes. Once you find one you like, you click cast & it will pay via your tv.
It’s straightforward! Another aspect of class pass that I love is the heart rate, monitor. If you want to participate in a live class or interactive class, you can choose to wear a\ heart rate monitor. Now, if you’ve ever heard or been to orange theory, it’s pretty much the same concept. You wear the monitor, and on the bottom of the screen, you’ll see different zones. From blue which is the cooldown to red which is maximum effort. During the workout, the line moves to tell you where you need to be, if you need be in orange, you have to put the effort in to raise your heart rate to that point. It’s pretty dope, it’s your way of staying accountable and actually maintaining that effort throughout the whole workout.
Also, on the right side of the screen, you’ll see all the other people who are taking the class and competing with them via points you earn from raising that heart rate and staying in the appropriate zones! This helps me stay accountable! I love a good competition and since I’m doing this from home, getting to 1st place is basically my motivation to keep going! I try to hit top 5 at least. Lol
The membership is affordable too, only about 20 bucks a month. That beats any gym membership since it’s in the convenience of your home and inexpensive. Since I’m working on discipline, I try to get in a workout on all my off days. So that’s about 2-3 workouts a week. Class pass makes it, so I have no excuse, if I’m not going to an actual in-person class I need to get up and do a quick 30 minutes.
So far I’m on track and January has been a good month to me! I actually got a month free to try actual gyms, and that has also been so much fun. The girls at work hold me accountable, and we pretty much try and get a class in together once a week. I’ll be writing a little more about that experience once I hit a month of trying different classes out.
If you are interested in trying it out, I have a code that takes $40 off your membership. Check it out here and let me know what you think!
